Lyngbya links
The
Department of Environment and Resource Management (DERM) is coordinating the response by State and Local government and other key stakeholders to the
Lyngbya majuscula outbreaks in Moreton Bay, Deception Bay and Pumicestone Passage.
As part of this coordinated effort, the South East Queensland Healthy Waterways Partnership will continue to provide the most up-to-date information on Lyngbya outbreaks and their management on our website. Lyngbya majuscula is a naturally occurring, filamentous, blue-green algae that has occurred in bloom proportions in Moreton Bay coastal waters.
In response State and Local Government, industry, scientific and community groups have jointly formed a Reference Group, which is advised by an independent Scientific Expert Panel, to identify causes of Lyngbya blooms, implement mitigation and control measures and develop public and stakeholder communications.
